Although Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow last week, we are seeing signs of Spring a lot earlier than usual. What does that mean for Savannah? Well, oyster roast season of course! We’ve gathered all of the oyster roasts, cooking competitions, and foodie volunteer opportunities for the month of February. Happy shucking, y’all!

Volunteer with Emmaus House 

Wednesday, February 8th, 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

The Emmaus House Soup Kitchen is run by United Ministries Savannah, and they provide healthy meals and assistance to the homeless and near-homeless. This volunteer opportunity happens every month on the second Wednesday. You must be 18+ years old and wear closed toed shoes. For more information, click here.

Distillery BBQ Dinner & Bourbon Tasting

Wednesday, February 8th, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Now if you love your BBQ & Bourbon, you better go ahead and buy your ticket to this event! Master Distiller Mark Coffman is hosting a tasting of the Town Branch Distillery line-up paired with small plates from BowTie Barbecue Co. Miss Black GA Benefit Oyster Roast 

Friday, February 10th, 6:30 p.m.

Savannah’s own (and our own) Shaunii Rawls is this year’s Miss Black GA, and she needs your help to make it to Washington, D.C. for the big pageant! Join her for an evening of laughs and she wouldn’t be from Savannah without oysters at her benefit dinner. Come meet, greet, and eat! Click here for more info.

February 10-12th, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Love Chocolate Half Marathon & 10k 

Saturday, February 11th, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Yep, you read that right. Getting some exercise while enjoying chocolatey treats! This half marathon and 10k has everything chocolate from the entry packet to the course to the fondue fountain finish line! Ummm… Can we just come to donate and eat some chocolate? The proceeds benefit the Cory Joseph Wilson Memorial, Inc. to help provide facilities in need with AEDs. Click here for more info.

Chefs & Chocolates Tasting Event

Friday, February 17th, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Go ahead and clear your schedule for the seventeenth for Urban Hope’s 7th Annual Taste of Hope: Chefs and Chocolates. This decadent event will have food tastings from Zunzi’s Takeout & Catering, Big Bon Pizza, Kitchen 320, and What’s for Dinner. Dessert tastings from Marche de Macarons, A SQUAD BAKE SHOP, River Street Sweets • Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, Le Café Gourmet, and Angel Cookies. Soup It Up for Loop It Up 2017

We love how our community gives back! The Brice is hosting its first SOUP IT UP for LOOP IT UP 2017! This event marks the first year of our signature fundraising event, in which local chefs will compete for the title of the Golden Soup Bowl while generously raising funds to support Loop It Up Savannah’s programming for local youth and services to local families. Aura Fest 

Saturday, February 18th, 1 p.m. – 11:59 p.m.

With this warm weather comes outdoor festivities, and we’re ready to rock! This all-day concert features 15 artists on two stages, food trucks and fun activities. To top it off, attendees will enjoy the best in local food truck cuisine and a variety of beverages from Southbound Brewing Co., Pabst Blue Ribbon and Woodchuck Cider. Pancake Fun Run

We are earning our guilty pleasures in February! Here’s another opportunity to work it off. Join Fleet Feet Sports Savannah, Mizuno Running, Balega Internationaland TriggerPoint on Saturday, February at Fleet Feet Sports Savannah for a “President’s Day Pancake Run” (Routes of 3 and 5 miles provided). Historic Savannah views and food from Elizabeth’s on 37th? Yup, sounds like our kind of event! Celebrate and support the birthplace of preservation in Savannah, GA – the Davenport House Museum. The event will be held at Elizabeth on 37th on Sunday Feb. 19, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. and will include a silent auction, wine bar and world famous food served by Elizabeth on 37th. Fish Gotta Swim Charity Event

Thursday, February 23rd, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Another chance to give back! Wilderness Southeast is combining food with education and charity. This event will feature local Savannah chefs! Food provided by The Local Farmbag and Ambos Seafood.
